We are Megan and Alex.

And we love teaching women about how they can significantly improve their hormonal health, be more goofy, and try new things to positively impact their lives.

We are Megan and Alex.

And we love teaching women about improving their hormonal health, being goofy, and trying new things to bring to our audience!

We believe in order to fully heal your body, you have to commit to a lifestyle approach to health. And live WITH the natural cycles of our bodies, instead of fighting them.

We work with busy women who are craving better health.

You’re devoted to securing good health, so you can be the greatest partner, mother, friend, employer/employee you can possibly be!

You’re done with trying to find quick fixes.

Instead, you’re ready to dig deep into the root causes of dysfunction and create long-lasting, sustainable, life-transforming changes to your overall wellbeing.

When you approach your life and health from this space, miracles happen!

CONFESSION: We are total health nerds!

We first met and bonded over our shared love of holistic, integrative, and comprehensive medicine.

Since both of us struggled for a really, really (really!) long time with our personal hormonal and menstrual problems, we know what this means and how it feels on a first-hand basis. It can be incredibly difficult! It’s for this reason we’re devoted to making it easier, faster, and less stressful for others.

We can’t wait to share our knowledge with you…and see all the amazing changes to follow!

MEET THE ZESTY GINGER GIRLS

Hi! I’m Megan.

I’m the zesty ginger (hey, what can I say, redheads have more fun!) known for creating comprehensive individualized protocols based off functional lab work and for teaching women how to take control of their health through simple, straightforward, and actionable steps.

Hi! I’m Alex.

I’m known for my integrative MD approach to health through both functional and conventional medicine and for teaching women the tools they need to be their own health advocates.

Together, we’re known for helping women find their way back to a vibrant, energetic, and balanced way of living they can create and live the life they truly love!

Our Journey to Health and Wellness

MEGAN BLACKSMITH

My own struggle with low energy, recurring infections, adrenal fatigue and heavy metals (all while trying to balance family life with a corporate job) opened my eyes to a journey that does not require willpower and deprivation. I was able to heal my hormones naturally, and now have the energy to do what I am truly passionate about.

More than my own health, my motivating factor in the holistic health field is the health of my daughters and their generation.  When a 3 year old needs to be on a gluten free, dairy free, dye/additive free diet and still asks “Mama, why does my tummy always hurt?” I take this as a sign we need to start paying more attention to our food supply.

I became a health coach and FDN Practitioner so I could fulfill my passion of working with families and moms-to-be to improve their health in a way that doesn’t require deprivation or counting calories.

I am a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® practitioner.  I use functional lab work to understand any underlying imbalance. I like to consider myself a health detective and functional lab work is the key component in my detective kit.  Instead of chasing symptoms, I search for the root cause.  Looking at function of the hormonal, digestive and detoxification systems provides clues as to how we can support these pillars of health and help restore full function.

I am also Certified Holistic Health Coach and certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I received this training from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, NY, USA, where I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

Currently, I have two wonderful little girls: Lily, who is 7, and Paige, who is 2 years old. They keep me busy! But they’re my greatest motivation to create a healthier world.

ALEX GOLDEN

I’ve had chronic pelvic pain since I was 18 years old. Pain, like any other illness, is a product of many systems in the body malfunctioning. For me, it was the culmination of a family history stacked with autoimmune diseases, a poor diet, years of physically abusing my body from ballet, major gut motility problems, and undiagnosed endometriosis. Needless to say, my late teens and early 20s were a time of great personal distress.

After years of bouncing between dismissive doctors and struggling with body image and self-prescribed treatments, it finally dawned on me I wanted to turn my personal problems into a personal strength…and I decided to become the kind of doctor I myself would want to find as a patient.

What followed was 6 years of pre-med classes and medical school. I threw myself into my work with great intensity. I spent late nights studying in the library and put a lot of pressure on myself to succeed. I was under-eating and pushing through grueling workouts on limited sleep. I was still struggling through the pelvic pain and messed up menstrual cycles, but I was bolstered by the thought I was turning it into somewhat of a life purpose.

Towards the ends of these years, not too surprisingly, my health began to take further turns for the worst. I was feeling exhausted all the time, my moods were erratic, my hair was falling out, and after a particularly unpleasant trip to a reproductive endocrinologist, I discovered that my hormones were so out of whack, and my endometriosis was so severe, I wouldn’t be able to have children.

It wasn’t until then I stopped to really realize what I was doing to my health.  This was a huge moment for me. Like most big epiphanies, it changed everything. I uprooted how I ate, how I exercised, how I slept, how I thought, what products I used, and how I reacted to my environment. I began to look at the world differently…how did the things and people I surround myself with have an impact on me? And how did I feel about that?  I did a lot of reading and learning and made strides to improve my health.

Eventually, I found functional lab work and my health took off. And life hasn’t been the same ever since…in a really great way! I had close to 10 years of beating up my body, but it gave me a chance to learn some important lessons along the way. It is because of my experiences that I want to help other women find the health they deserve, so they can create the life they truly want to live.
