Last time we were together in Chicago, it was cold and rainy and dreary! (Thank goodness for the weather we’ve been having!)
And since we both have kiiiiind of an obsession with chai lattes, we decided to try out this close-kin variation that’s been all over Pinterest called Golden Milk.
In fact, we went to Whole Foods and bought this kind:
Despite our love for the anti-inflammatory and detoxification concept behind this pre-made mix, we were both kind of underwhelmed by the taste!
So since we’re “if you want it done right, do it yourself” kind of ladies (Type A much?!), we decided to try our hand at our own concoction.
Here’s the anti-inflammatory and detoxification support pre-made mix we came up with!
- 3 tablespoons turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoon ginger powder
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla powder
- 1/2 tablespoon cardamom powder
Mix all the powders together and transfer into a small glass jar. This will ll store for about a year if you keep it in a cool, darker spot.
Our favorite way to incorporate this mix into hot drinks is a blend of hot tea and warmed up almond milk. Then add in about a teaspoon or so of this powder and a bit of honey to taste…then enjoy!
The ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon are all there to help with detox pathways in the liver. And they all provide antioxidants to help reduce free radical creation in the body from incoming toxins, stresses on the body, and chronic diseases.
