In every household, there seems to be that one thing that people swears cures ev-er-y-thing. In my parent’s house, it’s triple antibiotic treatment ointment. So when I set out to make a DIY version of this concoction, I wanted not only to recreate the antibacterial effects of that ointment but to add in some other benefits (antifungal, healing, and conditioning)…and, of course, without all the chemicals. So now I guess we know what will be the go-to in my house…

Ingredients:
- 1.5 tablespoons coconut oil
- 20 drops tea tree oil
- 12 drops oregano oil
Other things you’ll need:
- small glass storage jar (I don’t really recommend storing this the salve in plastic)
Steps:
1. Melt your coconut oil in a double broiler. (Note: you can make a make-shift double broiler by putting your coconut oil in a mason jar and then placing the mason jar into a pot that has about 2 inches of water in it. Place the pot on the stove and set it to medium heat. The water will heat up and transfer the heat to your jar, like a double broiler would. See picture below.) You could also microwave it or submerge the can of coconut oil in warm water if you don’t want to go through all that hassle.
2. Once your coconut oil is liquid, take it off the heat and place onto a hot pad.
3. Using oven mitts, transfer your melted coconut oil into your small glass storage jar.
4. Let cool until the coconut oil is almost to the point of room temperature (but still stir-able) and then add in your tea tree oil and oregano oil. Mix very well.
5. As your salve cools and starts to solidify again, stir it occasionally so the tea tree oil and oregano oil are mixed well throughout.
6. Once your salve has mostly solidified, you can either store it in the fridge or in a dark, cool cupboard.
I use this on cuts, scrapes, burns, and even fungal toe infections.
I love this thank you so much 🙂
